Membership

East Lake Aikido is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization and monthly dues are not payment for instruction. Membership dues are used to maintain the dojo. They pay for operational expenses  including rent, utilities, insurance, supplies, and accounting services. Whether you attend class or not, the dojo is open and needs your support.

In considering rates and models for dues we have modeled ours after other similarly situated Birankai dojos and have chosen a sliding scale model for adult and family dues. This structure aims to keep the dojo on strong financial footing, keep training affordable, and create an avenue for those who are able to contribute more to do so.

ELA remains committed to making rigorous aikido training available to all, regardless of income. Therefore, the dojo offers need-based scholarships, no questions asked. Please speak with Sensei or Hannah if dues are a hardship for you or your family, and a scholarship will be made available to you. In addition to monthly dues, each ranked adult member pays an annual $75 Birankai Membership fee once per year (in February). 

Dojo members are free to choose a dues level, based on the guidelines below, no questions asked. We do ask that you review your decision every few months on the chance your situation has changed, but even that is completely up to you.

Adult Membership options:

  • Sustaining Membership $110/month

  • Generating Membership level 1 $130/month

  • Generating Membership level 2 $150/month

Youth (4-12 y/o) Membership ($10 discount for additional children from the same household)

  • $65/month

Student Membership (full time students) 

  • $70/month

Family Membership

  • Contributing Membership $140/month

  • Sustaining Membership $160/month

  • Generating Membership level 1 $180/month
